Grow It Yourself

Grow Your Own Food
You can do it! in containers on the doorstep, pots indoors on a windowsill, a small part of the flower patch or convert your whole lawn.
In an effort to save money, if you grow your on food, it is cheaper and healthier. If you can go outside and pick veges in your garden, they are sweeter, fresher, taste better and best of all, grown especially by YOU.
There really is no limit. If you want to go the whole hog and dig up the lawn - go for it. Go wild and plant potatoes, broccoli, lemon trees, corgettes, pumpkins, onions.
CONTAINER PLANTING - It does not have to look pretty, just any old container will do. An icecream container with holes punched in the bottom and filled with soil will quite happily grow Rocket, a Salad Mix, some raddishes and more.
GETTING RID OF FLOWERS - You can grow lots of cabbages, cauliflower, broccoli and more in and around your flower garden.
DIG UP THE LAWN, BABY! - If you want to get serious, dig up a large section of your lawn. Edge it with something to stop the grass encroaching (even rolled up newspapers will do this trick), and then get planting.
Pick up seedlings from nurseries, if there are too many in one pottle, share with a friend. Swap seedlings with neighbours and share seeds from seed packets around. It's cheap and saves a huge amount of money in return for just a little work on your behalf.
